Harem Scarem were one of the greatest melodic rock bands of all time featuring an amazing combination of musicianship and songwriting skills along with the most perfect production style. They disbanded a few years ago to concentrate on writing and producing music for other artists including those featured on talent shows in Canada. In the meantime there was also a few quality solo albums from Harry Hess and Pete Lesperance. So here they return to resurrect the Harem Scarem brand with Mood Swings 2 which is a rerecorded version of their classic album Mood Swings. It has been stated by the band that the reason for doing this rerecorded version was to allow them access to licence their songs if needed as the originals are still controlled by their record label in Canada. This makes sense for the band but not really for the fans so Harem Scarem decided to sweeten the deal and add some value by including three brand new tracks and a short DVD showing how they work in the studio. The three new tracks are all in the signature Harem Scarem style which means quality melodic rock songs with awesome musical performances and those passionate Harry Hess vocals on top. I have been a massive Harem Scarem fan for years and always cherish any new music by these talented musicians. Mood Swings 2 is definitely great work but I am always looking forward to a full new album!
