Los Angeles pianist/composer Max Haymer recorded this collection of six of his tunes and three standards at the popular jazz club – Sam First – just prior to the closure of live performances with the advent of the pandemic. Listening to this outstanding recital reminds us of how exciting live performances are/were! Haymer’s pianism is brilliant: he studied classical piano first and progressed to jazz at UC Irvine.
