Во время короткого затишья в деятельности Duran Duran - одной из самых популярных "ново-романтических" групп - в конце 1984, начале 1985 года, вызванного судебными тяжбами из-за принадлежности брэнда, три члена коллектива: вокалист Саймон ЛеБон (Simon LeBon), клавишник Ник Роудс (Nick Rhodes) и ударник Роджер Тейлор (Roger Taylor) основали сайд-проект Arcadia. Новоявленный ансамбль представил слушателям более вычурный и изощренный синт-поп, по сравнению с Duran Duran первой половины 80-х.
